STUDIOCANAL ACQUIRES THE LOST CITY OF Z
Studiocanal has acquired THE LOST CITY OF Z starring #RobertPattinson, #CharlieHunnam, #SiennaMiller and the new #Spiderman, actor #TomHolland, according to Variety. Studiocanal will distribute this film in multiple territories including the U.K., Germany and Australia/New Zealand.
Produced by Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner via Plan B Entertainment along with Anthony Katagas and Dale Johnson.
The project is based on David Grann’s 2009 book of the same name.
Charlie Hunnam plays Percy Fawcett in Panorama Media’s feature adaptation based on David Grann’s best selling non-fiction novel and the project was scripted and directed by “We Own The Night” helmer, James Gray. The story is about soldier/explorer Percy Fawcett who with his son went on an expedition to find the mythical kingdom of El Dorado in the Amazon jungles but then they disappeared.
Below is the book‘s official synopsis..
“In 1925, Fawcett ventured into the Amazon to find an ancient civilization, vowing to make one of the most important archaeological discoveries in history. For centuries Europeans believed the world’s largest jungle concealed the glittering kingdom of El Dorado. Thousands died looking for it. Over time many scientists came to view the Amazon as a deathtrap that could never support a complex society. But Fawcett, whose daring expeditions helped inspire Conan Doyle’s The Lost World, had spent years building his scientific case. Captivating the imagination of millions around the globe, Fawcett embarked with his twenty-one-year-old son, determined to prove that this ancient civilization – which he dubbed “Z” – existed. Then he and his expedition vanished.” Fawcett’s fate – and the tantalizing clues he left behind about “Z” – became an obsession for hundreds who followed him into the uncharted wilderness. For decades scientists and adventurers have searched for evidence of Fawcett’s party and the lost City of Z. Countless have perished, been captured by tribes, or gone mad.”
